19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of that year.
Success also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
His defensive approach and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
He saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
